| Telecom & Radio |
Yes, in some instances Hong Kong allows for equipment to be placed on the market without certification; this is usually limited to simple single line equipment. Approvals are granted by OFTA. Compliance concerns are generally limited to telecom. To date, it has been possible to utilize test data from laboratories outside of Hong Kong or market entry. However, the country is steadily moving toward test data acceptance from accredited labs only. |

| Medical |
Yes, however, Hong Kong does not require general registration of imported medical devices. Currently, the two basic requirements for imported medical devices are: 1) demonstration of adherence to product technical standards - usually internationally-recognized or British standards -- for sales to government entities (this market accounts for most of Hong Kong's medical device purchases); and 2) for radiation-emitting equipment, registration with the Radiation Health Unit under the Department of Health. |
